Our client is a start-up and is responsible for developing and operating a portfolio of technology “start-ups”. The Operations Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all is running smoothly with portfolio companies as they gear up to launch, grow, or evolve. The position has varying degrees of general and broad oversight over end-to-end business operations – including finance, legal, facilities, and human resources. The position’s mandate is to support the VP, New Venture Operations by bringing order to chaos, solutions to problems, and a sense of control in a “so-much-to-do-so-little-time” environment.

- You must have 3-5 years project or product management experience.
- You must have previous experience in a “start-up” or emerging technology environment. You have built and grown businesses in the past.
Reporting Structure:

Duties:
- Assume overall responsibility for business process management discipline within the Operations Group.
- Track progress on all items and produce regular reports to VP, New Venture Operations.
- Work effectively in a “start-up” culture (nimble, lean, innovative, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and success-driven) and strike the right balance between disciplined process and fluidity.
- Exhibit critical thinking and maintain high-standards to ensure quality work at all times.
- Work with VP, New Venture Operations, to develop an operational approach to portfolio company support which is streamlined and cost-effective and facilitates rapid execution of deliverables.
- Act as primary liaison to our client’s Human Resources and external resources to develop an efficient and streamlined process for recruiting.
- Act as primary liaison to our client’s Finance to maintain budget tracking and financial reporting for portfolio companies.
- Act as primary liaison to our client’s Facilities to manage physical space and infrastructure requirements of portfolio companies, as needed.
- Support portfolio company CEOs/GMs by bringing urgent business requirements to the attention of VP, New Venture Operations.
- Be primarily responsible for researching and applying for appropriate tax credit and start-up funding programs available to portfolio companies.
- Develop a solid working relationship with VP, New Venture Operations, that is built on trust.
- Accept accountability for the New Venture Group’s success.
